Scottish Invasion

Over past years we have seen rising some pretty amazing designers from Scotland. Jonathan Saunders, Christopher Kane, William Chambers, Marc Ross, Emily Lamb just to name few.

PS Check the link for STV video for the amazing Scottish designer wear. There are many stunning pieces we could actually wear :)
Now, once again we have a young, inventive  scottish designer conquering London Fashion Week.
Louise Gray showed her new Autumn/Winter 12/13 collection on London Fashion Week  in February.

She has caught the eye of many in the fashion industry.

She’s been hailed as the “one to watch” by British Vogue

Fellow designer Lee Lapthorne said:  “Louise’s collection, as we’ve seen tonight, is really colourful and mixture of a great textures, using cottons and printing over the top clashing of prints, really bright, really colourful, really good fun and that’s why she’s so successful.”

Young designer is from Fraserburgh and studied at The Glasgow School of Art in textile design and Central Saint Martins, where she completed her MA.

The biggest achievement for her was NEWGEN show sponsorship at London Fashion Week and today she has design collaborations with Cotton USA, Judy Blame, Nicholas Kirkwood, the Smiley Company and Crown Paint. Louise is also sponsored by the Centre for Fashion Enterprise.
She is  inspired from everything around her, especially music. She loves clubs, nightlife and nail bars.
Her designer signature is very strong. She uses bright garments and experiments with different textures.
The key words would be: colour, textures, and hand silk screened, specially developed fabrics in woven, embroidered and printed techniques.

Have a look at her autumn/ winter 2012/13 collection:

This is very varied collection, there are a lot of pieces that look crazy, but there are also many you could   translate to your wardrobe.
If you look pieces on their own (shirts, silk dresses, cotton trousers) they will add some edge to your style.  Every item in her collection is a strong standalone product what will make you shine.
These are my favourite pieces from her collection.
1. The knitted cardigan is cute and adorable.
2. These trousers and jacket are edgy. I would not wear them together but separately they could add that extra spice to my everyday look.
3. This printed red dress would bring a smile to anyone’s face.
4.Elegant, simple and bold dress - just what you need to be noticed.
5. These amazing tigts! Add a black top and you are ready for night out.
